Smithers, BC

July 19, 2009
We had the tires rotated on the 5th wheel leaving Quesnel and had to miss the parade. Stopped to shop at Cosco in Prince George to stock up on supplies and are heading to Hyder. We are just stopping for a night the next 3 nights. The snowcapped mountains are coming into view. We are looking forward to seeing some wild animals. There have been signs all over for moose, elk and deer crossings but they don’t know that’s where they are supposed to cross. When we go for walks we see the tracks and scat. Gene and I are becoming professionals recognizing the tracks and scat of different animals..
Logging is really big here. The lumber mills are on huge acres of land.
Tomorrow we turn from route 16 onto rt 37 toward Hyder..
I feel bad for those in Dallas. It has been the high 60’s in the afternoon and as low as 40 at night. It will get wetter and cooler in Hyder.
I will not have internet for the next 3 days. I am having trouble sending emails for some reason.

Great pics and your going through great country ... although I tend to think where I live to the west and north of where you took those pictures is an even better country.
Loved seein more pictures of Barkerville as well. My novel 'Partners' ends there just because I love it.
