Quesnel, BC
Quesnel, BC
We drove to Quesnel on Wednesday and we have a great spot looking onto the lake. It is a better place then McLeese as there are fewer mosquitoes. The grounds are beautiful at the campground.
We found out there is a big celebration in town. It is the Billy Barker Days Festival going on all weekend. Its commemorating more than a century ago, when prospector Billy Barker from Cornwall England struck it rich, perpetrating the great Cariboo Gold Rush and his namesake town of Barkerville, just east of Quesnel. We purchased a program to see what is going on and will decide what activities we will attend.
The streets are beautifully lined with flowers.
We met a couple originally from Ireland who moved to BC 30 years ago when all the fighting was going on over there. A very interesting pair who just came from Hyder, AK to Quesnel on their way to Cache Creek, BC.. They just stumbled upon the town of Hyder and were sorry they only had two days to spend there. We sat and talked till over 10pm.
