Butte had the first skyscraper in the West. Outside of N.Y. and Chicago this skyscraper was built in 1961.
The Metals Bank & Trust was designed by renowned architect Cass Gilbert in 1906 to hold the fortunes of Copper Kings. The dark part on the building is copper. The bank building was copper trimmed.
