A surprise this morning. We got up this morning and a ranger was going around telling everyone the road (37) is not open to the Yukon. We have 2 choices. Stay here and see if it opens today or turn back and head for Hyder. There are no other roads or options. I later found out there where 3 fires and that did jump the road. Rumors are it will be open tomorrow. There are big trucks with loads of fish trying to make it down 37. They are evacuating Watson Lake but that will be east of where we are going. We heard this evening the road should be open tomorrow.
Meanwhile, we hiked, sat and gabbed and played cards. The pictures will show the area across the lake with the smoke and later in the evening when it started to clear. There are worse places to be stuck. The water was that clear.
