Today was moving day. We left the campground and moved our rig up to Gene's house. Everything was set up when a big thunderstorm blew in. Love the rain and cool weather, although they say the weather is going to get warmer.
Dave came over and was helping Gene get our campsite set up. Then Danielle and her friends came up from the campground to say goodbye. We chatted a while before they left. Their prom is the 11th of June and we will go down to Conn. to take pictures. After they left a friend of Gene's, Bill came over and we got caught up on all that has happened in the past year and a half. Bill has been very ill. But, is getting better.

Today was spent more at leisure since the little kids were gone. Some of the family went home today but we still have our son Mark, granddaughter Danielle and her friend Ryan along with friend Shannon and Robb. They taught us how to play beer pong without beer. You set up ten drink cups with WATER in them on each side of the picnic table. Then you throw two ping pong balls and try to get it into a cup at the opposite end of the table, one ball at a time.
Gene's girlfriend, Jacquie made chicken to put on the fireplace grill and macaroni salad for dinner. Her two kids, Esther & Calib joined us. We supplied the before dinner treats. Roasted marshmallows were desert.
It was a wonderful end to a great family weekend.

We have really been enjoying being around the family. Gene & me and the kids have taken walks, sat around the campfire, ate and laughed. Bambi & family left this evening to go back home. Abrianna is in a parade early tomorrow morning, Monday, in Conn.
We played shanghi rummy in the rv with Krista, Rodrogo, and Lauri and had an exciting time. Little Gene came over with his girlfriend Jackie and we all chatted.

We made it to Bonnie Rigg Campground at about 3pm. It was so great to see the family. Some of our kids, grand kids and great grand kids. Laurie (daughter) and Krista (granddaughter) seemed to have planned all the food for the weekend. Mike (grandson) and Krista’s boyfriend Rodrigo built a big fire pit and kept the logs coming all evening. After the corn, hot dogs and macaroni salad some of the kids (all ages) made somores and we sat around the fire singing.
Bambi (granddaughter) & Jim and daughters Brianna and Jovie seemed to be having a good time singing along with Justin Bebber’s music. We finally called it quits at 11 and went down to our campsite.
It was a little chilly away from the fire and we actually had to put on jackets.

We have traveled 1566 miles so far and we are camping in the woods in Penn.. The temperature is 69 with a wonderful thunderstorm. We have around 200 miles to go tomorrow.
The mountains we traveled through in Tenn. have to many trees along side the road blocking the any view, but Virginia was beautiful with its rolling hills off in a distance.
Fuel is getting more expensive. Twenty nine cents more than the last fill up. Hope this isn’t a trend.
Last night we played cribbage and Gene was the champion. While we were playing it started thundering and raining again. We opened the windows and just enjoyed the sound. After the rain we went out walking with some people across from us. It was a great day without any major incidence.

Wednesday, May 26

Yesterday we went a total of 950 miles. Today we only went 275. We are in Virginia and going along fine till a drive honked at us to pull over. There we found the tread separated from the tire and we were riding on the rim,This was on the 5th wheel. After we got someone to change the tire and put on the spare he told us the other tires were not very good and would have them changed asap. We drove to Roanoke VA and after driving around found a Firestone dealer who worked on truck tires. After a 3hr delay it was now 5:30 and we decided not to go to much further today. It is funny how draining your billfold suddenly make you very sick and tired. It was almost 7 before we found a campground. Early to bed tonight. Tomorrow is another day. At least we are out of the humid weather & heat of Texas. The Mountains of Virginia are beautiful.

Monday May 24, 2010 On the road again

We are on the road to the Berkshire Mtns. for a Memorial day celebration with some of our family.
Timing was just right. I had ankle surgery to fix a tendon torn in 4 places and I finished PT. Gene had gall bladder surgery a week ago and got the ok from the doctor to travel...so we left home Monday morning and drove to Little Rock, Arkansas. We only got 350 miles that day. The down town Riverside Park was great but that was for one night.
At 6:30am the next morning we headed for Tennessee and got to 40 or so miles from the border of West Virginia. A total of about 590 miles. We pulled into a lovely campground in Baileytown, Tenn. where we could open the windows and smell the new mowed hay. It was in the 60's, without any humidity.
We have about 800 miles to go.
